General Info

Hi all Running Club Parents –
Today was the first day of running club. It was hot and hectic but nonetheless exciting.  We have a great (and large) group of students participating this year.
In order to pull this off it takes lots of volunteers and a couple of rules to help this all run as smoothly as possible.
VOLUNTEERS
If you have committed to being there for every practice we REALLY appreciate it.  We know this is a big commitment.  If for any reason you will not be there PLEASE let us know so we can make sure we have coverage.  AS the students are being dismissed a little early this year if you can try to be there by 3:15 that would be great.  We will have a bag for each group set out and the first person there can head up to the track and the second team leader can stay down and help us get them up to the track.
If you have not signed up to volunteer for every practice but would like to help when you can, please shoot Nicole a text (619-921-0327) and let her know and she can give you an assignment for the upcoming week.  We do ask that if you are going to volunteer that you plan to be at the school by 3:15 meeting under the kindergarten awning and plan to stay until dismissal at 4.  This will cut down on the chaos.  The following are the current assignments per group.  There are two parents per group and one teacher per grade to help.

PERSONS PICKING UP (please pass this along to anyone who will be picking up your child)
You play an important role in making this work smoothly.  Please arrive at the school between 3:50 and 4:00.  Park in the car rider pick up lines.  Do not park on the grass areas near the track.  Also, please stay in your car.  This way when we dismiss we can get everyone on there way as quickly as possible. If you are going to be late please let us know.  We understand that things happen, but would appreciate a text or call.
For volunteers walking down from the track, please go all the way up to the cross walk in front of the front door awning (you may want to park accordingly).  This way you can get your group all the way back up. Please let one of the other volunteers know you are leaving and that either all your kids are on their way or head off the remaining students so we can be sure they are accounted for.  We totally understand you may need to leave quickly and want to help make this happen.
If you need to come get your child at the track, please park behind the school.  This way we don’t have any confusion with where the children are headed at dismissal.  If you are picking your child up from the track please be sure you notify their group parents so they know your child is leaving.
ABSENTEES
If your child is going to be absent and you think about it please send us an email or text.
APPAREL
Running shoes are essential.  Shorts in hot weather and layers in cooler weather.  Zip up jackets are recommended for easy on and off.
SHIRTS
If you registered online I have your child’s shirt size preference.  If you turned in a paper registration I have referenced the Warrior Walk size list for your child’s shirt size.  If you need or want to change these sizes I need to know this week.  Volunteers please email me your size preference or I will do my best to guess appropriately.
DUES
If you already turned in your dues, thank you.  If you still plan to turn them in please write the check to ILE and put running club and your child’s name in the memo line.  The dues are $10/child.
FUN COMPANY
We know there were some challenges today with a form that Fun Company required that we were unaware of. Hopefully you all completed it when picking up your child so that next time its not a problem.
TREK or TREAT
On October 18th at the Streets of Indian Lake, running club will have a team participating in this great fundraiser.  It is an optional event, but we do encourage you to at least take a look and see if its something your family might enjoy participating it.  While the running club will has a registered team and will set up a meeting place, if your child is going to participate you will need to have an adult attend with them.  You can learn more and register online at www.hankthompsontrekandtreat.org.  Just select the team ILE Running Club.  If our team has the most participants we will win $200 for the school.
And that’s about it.  We will be off next week for Fall Break and will hit the track again on the 15th.  Feel free to email us with any questions you may have.
Thanks!
